What of Watstock?

Posted in Gossip at 1:23 pm by watnorfolk

Watstock was held in fine weather over the weekend of 24/25 July and as last year had a lot of visitors. Once the accounting is done it is to be expected that there will be a healthy surplus, which the Watstock Committee is proposing to give as grants to local, village, causes.
So what did you think of the show? What do you think of the whole idea of a music fest in the village over a weekend?
Let us have your comments on what you liked, what you didn’t like, whether it should be staged next year, any changes that could be made, in fact anything interesting – you know the drill. But please do tell us in your post whether you attended the event.

What a marvellous event for the village. Did you know there was over 70 volunteers helping out over the weekend. over £8 thousand pounds for the village. Perhaps you helped by volunteering or did you help by giving up a day and half of noise/music that wasn’t your cup of tea, to benefit our village.
I think the village should thank the team of five for a years hard work in organising Watstock, there is no personal gain for the organisers and they seem to get so much negative feedback. come on Watstock fans show your support by commenting here. However if you have a real problem let them know.

Watstock IS a Fantastic Fun Event For All !!

Myself, my husband and our children all attended the event over the 2 days, as did many of our friends, and everybody had a really great weekend. My husband and I were just 2 of the many many volunteers who gave up their time, either setting up, or helping out on stalls over the weekend – all of which people did for freem out of goodwill, because they feel its a worthwhile event and wanted to be a part of it.

Julia, Triston, Angela, Sarah and Rob gave up massive amounts of their free time to organise this event for the good of our village, so don’t be so harsh with your criticism please!!

Yes, it may not of been everybody’s cup of tea, but these days you are hard pressed to please everybody all of the time aren’t you? And as for the grumbles and moans with regards to some ‘rowdy behaviour’ that may of happened over the weekend – if there was any we didn’t see or hear any, so the security company obviously did a great job in keeping the trouble to a minimum.

Many local charities benefit from the proceeds of Watstock each year, and for that we should all be very thankful!

Watstock is a great event, and long may it continue.

I totally agree with Cyril and Nick – Watstock is a great event that we should be proud of, the amount of time and energy it must have taken the organisers to set it up is phenomenal and what a great reward for the village – £8500!!
I think the security did a great job too – as did all the volunteers. Thank you all!

This year I happened to have a some old friends and their families visiting over the same weekend – so my family and I dragged them along on the Saturday afternoon – and they loved it! Think they want to come next time too!

I think the organisers deserve a break for next year but I certainly hope they get the support they need to keep Watstock going and keep it firmly on the calendar as a great event for the village and the community.

    Long may it continue indeed.
